This project used a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to help WRAP in their work with a consortium of bathroom retailers. The aim was to test motivations and barriers towards the purchase of water efficient bathroom fittings, as well as how best to label and promote water efficient products in store and at the point of purchase.

Green terms

This research, focused on understanding how consumers perceive and react to green terms, helped inform Defra’s revised guidance on the use of green claims (published in February 2011). The project involved a series of 12 focus groups (recruited in line with Defra’s environmental segmentation model) alongside an online survey of 2,000 UK adults.

Attitudes to SuDS measures

This project, led by Icaro Consulting with the support of Ipsos MORI, Waterwise and the UK Green Building Council, was designed to explore what consumers think about water retrofit measures that either reduce water consumption and/or mitigate surface water flooding episodes (e.g. SuDS measures like permeable paving, as well as green roofs, rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling).

As easy as EPC

This research, on behalf of Consumer Focus, explored consumers’ reactions to the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). To understand both the EPC’s current role as well as its potential role moving forward, the research involved the development of stimulus materials to test reactions to different versions of the document in terms of both format and content.
